Healthy Aging for Women:

Your Guide to Vitality and Longevity

1. Gut & Digestion

Heading into menopause with gut and digestion issues or untreated autoimmune issues can cause more symptoms than you would typically see. Addressing these gut issues sooner rather than later can make your menopause journey easier and your sleep better.

2. Breast Cancer

After the age of 50, you no longer have the protection from breast cancer, so you need to make sure you work with someone who knows how to advise you on how to bring that estrogen metabolite back into the range so you continue to have protection. This is something I do with my clients.

3. Working Out

There are better ways to keep your waistline intact than working out like you did in your 20s, 30s, or even early 40s. It is less about cardio and more about lifting weights. Yet. If you work out too much, you can gain extra weight, especially in your middle area. It is a balance based on your energy level.

4. Stress

Having numerous stress management tools in place is necessary for hormone regulation. When your stress goes unmanaged and is too high, you can gain more weight in your waistline despite working out. You can also throw your hormones off and have trouble sleeping.

5. Sleep

You have less room for error when it comes to your sleep. If you stay up too late too many nights in a row or regularly and don’t get 7+ hours of sleep, you may experience brain fog, lack of focus, forgetfulness, low energy, and more. Additionally, it will make it harder to get to sleep in the future because your circadian rhythm (sleep/wake cycle) is no longer on the same schedule.

6. Eating

As you age, the way you once ate no longer works; it is more about eating an anti-inflammatory diet and much higher protein levels, though you need necessary complex carbohydrates later in the afternoon or the evening to help with sleep.

7. Keto Diet

The Keto Diet Is normally a quick-fix diet, not a long-term, sustainable solution to maintaining your weight as you age. Consuming a long-term keto diet can help with your weight but can negatively impact your health. "It could cause low blood pressure, kidney stones, constipation, nutrient deficiencies and an increased risk of heart disease (U. of Chicago Medicine 2023)." It is also not good for everyone.

8. Nature

Spending time in nature will help bring good bacteria to your microbiome, making your gut healthier. It will also help calm your body naturally, which is needed when your natural calming hormone, progesterone, is naturally depleted.

9. Longevity

Getting up off the floor without using your hands is one of the key indicators of longevity.

10. Menopause

This is a stage of inflammation, and it is associated with an increase in cardiovascular disease. Consider working with a board-certified functional medicine health coach and be educated on reducing your risks and ways to get your hormones back into balance.

Testimonials From My Clients

Kathy

"Before working with you I had more difficulties dealing with stress and anxiousness especially at night as I was trying to fall asleep. I had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep waking up several times during the night."

Cindi

"I've lost 20 lbs since October 1st!"

Lara

"You have helped me so much! You were born to do this work!"

Eliana

"My sister knew I was suffering from a couple months of my auto immune disease being out of remission so she recommended Colette’s coaching services to me. When joining I had been having migraines, stomach pains and unhealthy bowel movements. I have my own healing practice, and tons of tools to work with these times in my life, but I needed some extra support. Colette was a great advocate; offering me some new food techniques to work with, goal setting, and also setting up reward feedbacks for following through on some harder behavior changes. With her advice, and my own continued healing journey explorations, I was able to get my disease back into remission and maintain it in that place even through some challenging life circumstances that would follow. Colette’s approach and perspectives for gaining new healthy waves is a great asset to anyone on their own gut health journeys!"

Katie G.

"I love Colette's package! Videos I can go back and watch to remind myself of how to nourish my body as I age. I hadn't previously taken into account the importance of hormones and the fact that you can control them naturally through food.

The sheer number of great recipes she's shared is incredible. Something for every family. I intend to find around 12 that I can rotate weekly, because I want to set my whole family up for successful nutrition, as we are all looking for higher (healthy) protein meals."

Judy

"Colette has an extreme wealth of knowledge regarding hormone balance and gut health. She has helped me understand the changes in my body I have been experiencing. The tools she provides are helpful and easy to incorporate in my daily life."
